Two Books by Deep Rawat Connect Organizational Design and Human Development
A transformation plan can describe new technology without fully explaining how people will work differently. A learning plan can specify courses without addressing whether the workplace gives people room to apply them. Bringing those two plans together is the subject of this book-related discussion.
Deep Quantum and Deep Education, by Deep Rawat, address organizations and learning respectively. For NXT SAS Global's strategy audience, the useful connection is between developing people's capabilities and examining the conditions in which those capabilities are put to work.
Consider a hypothetical organization introducing a new decision process. Training can explain the steps, but teams also need clear responsibilities, appropriate access to information and a way to question decisions. The change deserves attention as an operating-model issue as well as a learning requirement.
A practical planning exercise is to pair every proposed organizational change with a capability question: what will people need to understand or practise? Then pair every learning investment with an organizational question: what will allow that learning to be used?
Reading about organizational design alongside education offers a way to examine those plans together. The practical task for leadership teams is to make the connection explicit: a new way of working needs people prepared to carry it out, and new learning needs somewhere to be applied.
